The Backyard Of My Life

The Junk Shop

There's a bicycle without a seat
A Russian doll that's got two left feet
A sign in the window says closed for repair
Nobody's really sure if anybody works there
There's dust on the door frame wind rattles the letter box
Next to a pile of vintage clothes and a pair of odd sox

With cobwebs on a shelf of second hand poetry books
Mixed up amongst silver spoons and cat fish hooks
There's an old empty cash register a queens coronation china cup
A bag of golf balls from some country club
In a corner wheres there's some smoke damaged furniture
A postcard rack and a copy of a famous Picasso picture

There's grandfather clocks and photograph frames
Watering cans and faded fake gold plastic chains
There's walking sticks and toy building bricks
Next to broken tea pots ribbons and strings tied up in knots
A million collars made for kittens vases for flowers children mittens
There's typewriters some African drums yo yos for the end of your thumbs

Wood worm in an old chest of drawers with a wobbly leg
Electric blankets and hot water bottles for your bed
There's a collection of coins from the Victorian age
Key rings and a stack of encyclopedias all missing a page
A load of statues and porcelain ornaments some cracked with a chip
There's an oak coffee table with a stain and fridge magnets shaped like a ship
Thousands of video tapes scratched LP's i could go on but i need to stop
They got everything that you will need at the junk shop
