 ramblings and things

Just Reflecting

I have led a lucky life
Rich in everything but wealth
And with very little effort
Enjoyed really good health.
Just a few creaks these days
Consistent with my age
And i never really expected
To ever get to this stage.

Looking back there are regrets
For some of the things I've done
And for some of the situations
I've survived and fights I've won.
And there are times in the night
When my face should be burning red
When I recall with embarrassment
Some of the things I've said.

Yes, a very lucky life that
I sorted of just drifted through
With very little planning for
Some things I attempted to do.
I suppose I'm just a drifter really
With no real aims in view
Just tried to do my best at
Everything I tried to do.

Two very different marriages
With two very different wives,
Two very different but two
Equally happy married lives.
So,  a very happy existence
With very little achieved
But I've always tried to be true
To things in which I believed.

So, no great loss to the world
When it's finally my time to go,
No national cataclysm of grief
No floods of tears to flow.
But, I like to think
When I come to my end
At least one or two may say
He was a good and true friend.
