 ramblings and things

smallstepsmadpotepotriemantheartfulcodgerscogspeaksvolumes
Sentencing people to prison
For most petty crime,
Such a waste resources
Making people do time.
What we need now
Is a more radical approach,
Perhaps a few sessions with
A State Registered Life Coach,
Coupled with an insert,
Maybe in the lower arm
Nothing serious so as
To cause any physical harm

Just one that jams the use
Of any mobile phone
Sentencing them for a while
To be truly on their own,

And to ensure the sentence

Achieves its desirable end

Make sure the device jams

A phone of any nearby friend

With time to reflect and
Try to understand that
It’s not a give right to
Always talk to their hand.

And if they desist from
Their anti social ways
It will be deactivated
One of these days.
Not fully of course
Depending on the situation
Just limited for awhile
The new form, of probation.
Yes our Penal System
Is jaded and defective
Let’s replace it with one
More likely to be effective.

I bet it wouldn’t take long
For Petty Crimes to drop
By bringing mobile use
To a temporary stop.
Oh the misery and shame
To be suffered all over this land
At not being allowed to roam with
Phone at the ear or held in the hand.
And, think of the benefit
Of the lessening of the noises
From inconsiderate phone users
Who won’t lower their voices.

To them their daily lives may
Be fascinating and absorbing
But to me and, I suspect, many more
They’re just boring and annoying.
So reform the Penal System
For certain petty types of crime,
There must be radical alternatives
To just making folk do time.
My mobile phone ban solution
Could help alleviate the situation
And maybe even increase
Face to face communication.
