Think Clearly

When shall there be an answer to this question
Which is the reason for this manner of oppression
Is it that one race comprising a set of people
Believing that no other race is their equal

Why should a person's degree of pigmentation
Should be a reason to designate them a second class citizen
Is this remnants of that notorious historical fate
Which resigned their predecessors to a lower estate

Let us not forget the role of something called hate
Which can cause people to not think straight
Seemingly quite immune to any logic or reasoning
Because through to system it is metastasizing

We have now read in the pages of history
About the cruelty, and dehumanisation deeds of slavery
We can the behaviour of some and body language
That they wish today it was still a privilege


Why should one human being become another's property
To be traded like stocks and handled as callously
And what is the focus of some politicians today
Are trying to ignite the bigotry of yesteryear

There is that noted reluctance an some inaction
When something affects a certain sector of the population
But it is quite obvious, when the police make an arrest
You can tell the race that is under more duress

When will this type of action see a termination
Because there is still some form of determination
Clearly one can see efforts of voter suppression
Is this too another signal of racial rejection

Remember you did not overnight become a powerful country
Yes those many great scientists who found you a sanctuary
They hard work and inventions, put you in the ascendency
Do not let hatred and stupidly be the downfall of thee
