The Backyard Of My Life

Waltzing With My Memories

Remember when she used
To sing like a sky lark
Every road we walked down
Would lead us up to heavens door
They were high times i hoped would never end
Those were the days my friend

Now I'm waltzing with my memories
Drinking whatever there is
Left at the bottom of a bottle
Crying for a shadow in the midnight sun
The years seem to slip away
Faster then a bullet from a gun

Dreams we had as children
Slowly disappear in the smoke rings

Remember when every night
Was like a prism of colours
Crashing out into the pitch black
Filled with music and chemical concoctions
We would beg steal borrow and lend
Those were the days my friend

Now I'm waltzing with my memories
Holding on to whatever there is
Left on the backseat of my mind
Crying for a silhouette in the morning sun
The future is here the past has gone

Remember when we danced
In the dazzling driving rain
Laughing like lunatics
At anything tomorrow might bring
Life was a drink to be drunk our very own blend
Those were the days my friend

Now I'm waltzing with my memories
Drinking whatever there is
Left at the bottom of the bar
Crying for a shadow in the midnight sun
Nothing lasts forever at the end of the day
There's only so long a show can run
