The Backyard Of My Life

Nowhere Street

Every day there's pain and more misery piling up
Another junkie blows his mind and melts his blood
Another broken window another empty bottle of booze
Children crying in the alley with no shoes on there feet
When the sun goes down on the corner of nowhere street

Every night there's another argument ten thousand more tragedies
Another ambulance another police car called
Another victim of society suffering another dream slowly dies
Lonely old people sleeping rough while teenagers taste defeat
When midnight comes around at the end of nowhere street

Crime is high the cash is low
But they built us another bookies you know
Food banks closed the queen is dead
Even prisoners evidently get fed

Every day there's violence cruelty hatred and torture
Another thief pawning stolen goods another drunk in the gutter
Another person in pieces on the floor another suicides note stuck to the door
With winter coming the poor cant afford food or heat
Politicians live far far away from the people on nowhere street

Every night there's plenty of poverty without care or compassion
Another heart sinks in to the swamp of sorrow sadness and tears
Another crack gets wider in a problem that runs so deep
Many men have trouble so they constantly lie and cheat
To try and escape the chains and same old story of nowhere street
