Poetic Verses
Prepare Them
Could it be that many of us who were deprived
Of many thingd due to the circumstances under which survived
Changing times had brought about change as in the standard of living
And so they have become more lenient on their children
Many times I have heard this from parent as they lament
That those many things in their childhood days that were absent
They are going to push themselves much harder to ensure
So their off spring can have them, and if possible a bit more
Well I have no problem with that way of thinking
But along with such there have to implement some form of understanding
And by duly exercising some form of guidance and parental control
They would understand that some discipline must play a role
As I go along I see acts that someday may have some repercussions
And parents do not want to display any affirmative actions
Letting lay around in bed and awake at any hour
Not assigning any chores, but they let them just be an idler
This caused some amusement as I observed a lady and her son
She was there toiling in the garden tolerating the morning sun
He was sitting in the verandah just smoking and relaxing
But when he needed anything she had to leave her task and serve him
Of course parents you duty is to care and love your children
Add that support where possible, steer but not spoil them
Prepare them to be able to survive and cope with the wiles of the world
Because each minute they get stronger, and you by convers gets weaker and older
