The Backyard Of My Life

Waiting For You

Every night i was down at the local lions den
Drinking with the deadbeats and talking to the time wasters
Quiet content to sleep at the end of the bar in that losers lounge
Looking back i was wishing my life away waiting for you

Every morning i would throw myself in to a mystery
Writing for hours anything that came to mind on an old type writer
Trying to create a distraction from the mundane merry go round
Spending my hard earned pay on pills patiently waiting for you

What a day now
That you've come along
Shes got me some how searching
For whats beyond the horizon
Trying to put right everything i did wrong

Every night i would sing center stage at the three ring circus
With whiskey and cigarettes in a smokey haze with clowns and jokers
Laughing at the prison i built for myself dreaming of escape
Crying hoping praying for my lucky break waiting for you

Every day i would turn to face the eternal struggle all alone
Avoiding feelings of loneliness by keeping busy busy busy
Running around at such a speed like a mouse on treadmill going nowhere
Searching in a desert of souls for a special grain of sand waiting for you
