Not many of you were wise,
Pertaining to worldly standards;
Without having noble eyes,
Merely like being cowards.
But God chose what is foolish,
In a world that shames the wise;
Shame the strong that were cruelish,
That devils were in disguise.
God chose the despised and low,
To bring to naught things that are;
Making a spiritual glow,
That shines brightly as a star.
So that no human can boast,
In the presence of the Lord;
But praise the Heavenly Host,
And remaining in one accord.
For you are in Jesus Christ,
Who has the wisdom of God;
You are no longer enticed,
The earth caused you to be flawed.
Righteousness and redemption,
Let those who boast in the Lord;
Given sanctification,
And show that He is adored.
