the cherry trees

I remember the orchard of cherry trees
and when they danced in the breeze
the harsh rains and clouds of gloom
the trees would shake in their flooded doom

the sun would shine and we played there all day
until man came and took it all away
removed all the trees and cleared the land
filling it all in with sand

I left that day and never looked back
stubid homes were built on a track
once there was cherry trees here
us kids held them dear

how we cherished them no one knew
this is my childhood all true
