You always taught me to do the right things
I do them
Despite the backlash
Or negative hate I receive
I know deeply Allah has rewarded me
As my parents I'll always make you proud
I'll protect my community
My friends and our family
I'll always spread joy to people
I'll always be determined and happy to be me
I know I'm hated by many, but loved by so much more
I been part of this writing community for 20 years
It makes me proud that I'm here today
I see how I have evolved from 16 to this day
I have dad to thank for kicking me into intellect
Definitely kiss you again mum given the chance for your constant encouragement
I'm going to make you prouder
Thanks to you both from my heart
You never stopped me fighting injustice
Or being me you just let me be me
I love you for this
It made me so intuitive
I know how people are even what they think and feel
It hurts when I know they're trying to be nice and they're fake sometimes
It's so sick when you live in community full of narcissists
At least I had parents who loved me
