Musings by The Poet Loriet
Absent on Picture Day
I gather my pictures to take
to the psychic tommorow,
the three men I want
to ask her about...
and I can't find one.
Is that supposed to be
poetic justice?
I'm nervous about
this appointment and
don't even know if I
believe in psychics,
but I'm open to
new ideas.
I had a dream that
she studied my pictures,
glanced at each one with
"aha" and "i see" and "hmmmmm"
as my palms grew sweatier,
and then tossed them in
the air laughing with a
crazy look in her eye.
She took my hands in hers
and said, "Honey, none of these
men are your soulmates.
I'm sorry. I can see him,
but can't make out any details.
I'm afraid, honey...
that he was
absent on picture day."
