Musings by The Poet Loriet
What Love Is
I love everyone,
falling in love
quickly and deeply,
giving too much,
wanting a ladder
tall enough
for my lovers
to bring me the moon.
I told you that
maybe I was a fool,
didn't know what love is.
You said,
"Oh, you know
exactly what it is.
You just beat
everyone else to it."
How do I slow
my blood's rush
to the heart,
because it hurts
to love so much
and not have that love
returned.
Help me
to not be
such a love fool.
