Thank you
for calling my little girl,
making her feel special
on her birthday.
It touched my heart
to hear you chattering
and joking with her
and her excited giggles.
When I talked to you after,
you told me that
"she sounded so cute"
and my heart melted.
You made it easy
for me to forget
that a week ago
you broke my heart.
A million transgressions
were instantly forgiven
in the moment it took you
to make my baby girl smile.
