Old Love.

A peck on the cheek when you say goodnight
No loving arms are holding me tight
Somehow you know it does not seem right
Our love should die without a good fight.

How often my darling do you think of me
And when you are thinking, what is it you see
Do you see the girl that I used to be
Or are you just wishing that you could be free.

I am still the girl that you used to know
`Though grey in my hair is beginning to show
And now there are lines etched hard on my brow.
Look! see it is me - not then darling - now.

I am aware love that we`re getting old
That our story in life is now nearly told.
But love should be timeless be brave and be bold.
Old love can`t tarnish, its made of pure gold.

We all need to be loved until we should die
So once again darling I am asking you why
Why oh my sweetheart are you too blind to see
What you are losing and what we could be.

There is time yet to find what it is we have lost
If we say goodbye now we will pay the cost.
In your hands I leave it, my heart and your own
If you throw it away now, you will be alone.
