The Road Not Taken

As they stand together
Hand in Hand
They see before them a desolate road,
There are no visitors passing by
There are no eager bodies rushing forward,
As they turn to each other, their eyes meet
They can read each other's thoughts
Without saying a word, they turn to the open road,
The road looks long and dusty
The mountains tall and rigid
The trees look eager to greet us,
As we turn to walk away
As we turn to all that is familiar
We leave the road behind us,
Today is not the day we thought
Today we leave behind our only chance
Today we choose
The road not taken
