Is It Not Love
Is it not love that brings you here, to me
Is it not love that kisses me goodnight
What of the words of sweetness sayeth thee
Are they of truth and love with all thy might
When thou, my fingers, take into thy hand
for how long may they rest so, in thy hold,
Commitment not pledged by thy simple band
A future promised not or vowed in gold
My love for thee is simple and yet pure
and I dream to be always by thy side;
but if perchance thy feelings be unsure
ask heaven, on high, to be thy love guide
Is it not love that binds mine and thine heart
Is it not love that will tear us apart
