Hurt Me

The rain drums hard at my, blurred, window pane
as the gloom smothers my dream 'til it dies
Sweet nothings said are nothing but sweet lies
that keep the distance that you plot in vain
Love's vision is blurred, in my heart, by rain;
and soothed by your love-words, like lullabies,
then contradicted 'til my still heart cries
Confusion of love will cause me more pain
Profess your great love and lull me to sleep,
to suddenly, wake in the arms of doubt
of knowing my dream world will never be
Squeeze my emotions 'til they bleed about
and, now, rip out my heart for you to keep
defile my trust; and with love, hurt me
