Musings by The Poet Loriet

Show Me

You boast that you can make
the catfish purr. Show me.
You know how to turn the moon
into a hot air balloon, so
take me for a ride.
Teach me to fly.

You speak of playing
connect-the-dots upon
your lovers skin.
I will give you a
new map to follow.

I want to know what you know.
I'll show you how to swim
like a bear cub, how to
tame a mermaid and
ride the milky way.

I'll teach you to touch
a star from my bedroom window,
to erase the spaces between us
with my magic green couch.

I'll show you mine if
you show me yours.
I'm an eager student
and I want empirical knowledge
of the wonders you write.
To read you is no longer enough.
Give me more than words,
my handsome poet.
Show me how to trace
your words with my hands.
Lend me your pen.
We'll write as one.
