Cynthia's Home of Many Things

The Hitchhiker (chapter 14)

Radio Announcer: "There were a few drive by
witnesses.
The car was a dark color,
with the licence plate R5L H2B.
If anybody has seen this vehicle,
please report it to the police
as soon as possible."

Missy: "I wonder if they have
a picture of the victim
on television?"

Cynthia: "I hope so, the kids
are going to their grandmother's
today, so I think I'll wait
to find out."

Missy: "I feel the same way you do,
trying to keep it hush,hush,
so the kids don't get scared."

Radio Announcer: "We'll give you more
details throughout the day."

Cynthia: "I'll turn this off for now."

I walked over to the counter and
turned the radio off.
It was coming onto breakfast
time for the kids.
I happened to look out the
window.
The car door was
wide open.

I went outside.
There was no sight
of Tony anywhere.
Missy came out soon after.
She had a surprised
look on her face.

Cynthia: "He's gone!"

Missy: "I wonder where he
might have gone?"

Cynthia: "I don't know, maybe
he decided to go home."

Missy: "Does he live around here?"

Cynthia: "He says he does."

Missy: "Why would he take
off without saying good bye?"

Cynthia: "He probably has a wife
and kids he wanted
to get home to."

Missy: "You could be right."
