Musings by The Poet Loriet

Lost Sheep

God, one of your children,
your little lambs,
has gotten lost,
his soul wandering
in blame, self-doubt,
unforgiveness.

Please, God,
lead him back to
the other sheep.
Help them nurture him.
Let him know that
he is worth their love,
that you designed him
in *your* image.

I want you to wrap
your loving arms
around this big man,
whisper in his ear
that you forgive him,
and bring him peace
so that he can love
himself again.

Lord, I'm asking
for a miracle,
humbling myself
on bent knee and
giving you my tears
in place of his pain,
my prayers as an offering.

Use me and work through me.
Work through those he
comes in contact with
so he can know
your beauty,
your grace.

Two sweet little boys
need their daddy, God.
When he hurts, I hurt.
Let him know that
he's worth more
than his pain.

Bring him back, Lord.
Remind him that you
love even sinners,
that you are the
great physician
and can heal
his broken soul.
Open his heart.
Rock him tonight
in your arms
and stroke his hair.

I'm asking for a lot,
I know, but if you could
send him a miracle,
a sign, an angel,
perhaps the mom who
loved him as a small child?
Let him know that he
is beautiful in your eyes,
that he's priceless
to you.

Let no little lamb
be left behind.
Help him to believe
before it's too late.
Bring him back to
green pastures
before he dies
in the desert
alone and
unreachable.

Show him his
Rose of Sharon,
and call him
home again
to your
merciful
love.

Amen.
