And They Danced

(DEDICATED IN LOVING MEMORY TO MY GRANDFATHER)

He dressed in his best
A suit black...
Creased just right
Knowing deep in his heart
He would make memories this night

Her gown was soft velvet
Emerald green was it's hue
Her hair crowned in soft curls
With love in her eyes....
She was beautiful

He took her hand in his
He led her out to the floor
The music started to play
They danced once more

They held each other closely
It was their tribute to love
For it was a dance for a lifetime
Soon he would be called
To heaven above

In her mind plays a melody
Like a moment frozen in time
She can still smell his soft cologne
She closes her eyes now to cry......
And they danced
