SultryRose's Signatures

When Jesse gave you a microphone,
man did you sing the blues!
He said in his deep funky
soul-brother black velvet
larger than life voice,

"Tell us how you feel, John"~

And you sang in a deep
monotone, "When my baby's
not alright, I'm not alright."
And you crooned to the
smoky room as girls stood
at the bar in their
basic black dresses
and swayed to *your* voice.

It was very surreal to know
that the man behind the microphone
was the same shy
junior high history teacher
I was talking to about
young kids today
only moments before~
because the way that you
spun those notes...

I felt the blues.
You brought them alive.
You made them dance
across the disco-ball
empty dance floor.
You made the notes
stand up and shout
in the empty night.

Man, Cool Cat Brother,
did you ever sing
the blues!
