My Love By Sea

SultryRose's Signatures

The River

She made her way down the path to the river below,

Hanging tree limbs and bushes made her going slow.

She got to the bottom and looked around,

Right here was where her beloved had drowned.

The river looked so calm and blue today,

It didn't fool her though,it wasn't always that way.

The day it happened it had been blue and calm like this,

She had decided to go out with her husband to fish.

They had taken their boat out, they were miles away from shore,

It had started to rain...the river got choppier than she'd
ever seen it before.

All of a sudden the boat had rolled on it's side,

She had been swept away by the powerful tide.

She'd heard her husband shouting...that was almost
the last she knew,

Except the fear on his face...as he realized there was nothing
he could do.

She had opened her eyes and found she'd been washed
up on the shore,

Her husband was gone though...such agony she'd never
felt before.

Every week she brought flowers and repledged her love forever,

And then she prayed for God to keep him close, until they
could be angels together.
