ramblings and things

mrs simpson has invited us to Sunday tea
we're expected to arrive soon after three
where we will be served curry and buns
with musical selections from the singing nun
her greatest hits volumes one through to four
so long as we leave our shoes at the door
and she never minds the holes in my hose
so long as I'm wearing my bestest clean toes
and the toeses nails are cut so they don't tear
chunks from her carpet in toilet and stair
after a decorous evening of beer and wine
we expect to be leaving soon after nine
she shakes hands and says good bye at the door
and I do hope you'll find time to visit some more
and she will wave till we vanish from sight
after a thoroughly pleasant evening and night
she's not the mrs simpson who married the old king
but we believe she's the next bestest thing
