In my soul
She sat on a chair
Sunrays washed the glass room
Her face was glowing.
Her dance recital was riveting
Her expression oozed sinewy elegance
She has created magical atmosphere.
She was looking at me
-My road to success
Yes, it is a tough one.
The days of hunger and rejection
How can I ever forget?-
Her voice was firm.
I grew up amidst acute poverty
My father sold brooms and mats
His earning was too meager.
I was forbidden for song and dance
My mother beat me
She locked me in a room.
But I was stubborn
I know I have to do something
One day, I ran away from my home.
My days of struggle began
But I overcome the hurdles
I feel overwhelmed now.
See my resilience and endurance
I have survived so many years
Surely, I have no regrets.
I saw tears in her eyes
Tears of joy and happiness
She went out in grace, in style.
I still felt her presence in my soul.
