PATH TO NOWHERE
The oaks dripping silent tears,
of an early October mist.
Faint evening sounds, muffled,
the path, soft moonlight kissed.
I walked this path called nowhere,
solitary thoughts of what was lost.
Fulfillment never again to find,
High payment and unrelenting cost.
Ever taking the way of no return,
my footsteps left no prints.
No present, past or future now,
all gone in a blind man's blink.
Again the wrong path taken,
bad decisions made in haste.
No time to make corrections,
no time for wanton waste.
