Thank You
The love of a couple
has brought me to this earth
In March of 75
That's when she gave birth
I cried, I fussed
and pouted just the same
While mommy & daddy
Argued 'bout a name
Although your love separated
Your heart was with us
Along came a new daddy
To scream, fight and fuss
They loved and they nurtured
Till I was grown
Praying for "18"
To be out on my own
I scream, I yell
and pout just the same
Thinking that life
Was just a big game
I grew up, I woke up
In a negative way
Thinking I could not live
Not another day
I've put you through misery
I've put you through hell
Always making you think
That everything was well
I'm taking this time now
To tell you how much
You have taught me and brought me
The Mommy's touch
I grew up with two daddy's
Both vivacious and fun
Ask me twelve years ago
I'd say I had one
This poem is to thank you
For being so strong
And for bringing me two daddy's
To carry me along
For if I could of seen the world
At thirty instead of eighteen
I'd probably understood
you weren't being mean
It was the love of a child
That kept us all together
Now it's the love of my children
To make it forever
Thank you Mom
Thank you Pops
Thank you Dad
For you are the best parents I ever had
