As you lay your head gently down
Your eyes begin to softly flutter
Your hair sways back and forward
With the gentle breeze,
You do not see others around you
As you search for a moments rest
Your days are long and fraught with danger
As there are those
Who long to capture your innocence
And take your freedom as their trophy,
And as your eyes begin to open
And you drowsily rise to your feet
You are once again reminded
Of how brief freedom can be
And how innocence is lost
