Heartbreak

He sits on a curb
on the side of the road,
waiting for his
true love to return,
they met in pre-school
and have been
friends ever since.

They were supposed
to go to their
high school prom,
but he didn't
have a car,
she promised to be by
to pick him up.

He sat alone,
on the side of the road
hoping she'd be there,
a few of his friends,
happened to come by
to deliver some bad news,
she got into a car accident
on her way to him,
he fell apart inside.

He knew deep down
his true love was gone,
but still he sits alone,
on the side of the road
waiting for his
true love to return.
