Home of a soldier
The home of this soldier
smells of freshly baked bread
sounds of life and hope
for his safe and soon return
The home of this soldier
shines with the gold of a Sunday afternoon
gleams with the youth of innocence
and has safety nestled in its warmth
The home of this soldier
is an empty place of the deepest blue
echoing with the screams of lost promises
and throbbing with the pain of lost love
The home of this solider
is lost to only him
resides in the corner of his mind
and does not pray for him
But each of these men
fight for the same thing
their lives are different
but their hearts are the same
Twisted in the conflict of battle
and the will to return
But side by side they fight
Within them, freedom burns.
