Poems of Soldiers
Bullet aimed at the Heart
The bullet screams to me from somewhere
Unerring, unwavering, finding it's target at last
Burrowing deep to make a home in my heart
I crumple slowly, knowing the end is here
Trying to catch my breath feeling it disperse
I am pail, my essence following out of my wound
Blinking, I wonder if this is the reality that I wanted
The pain in my chest is more than I can bear
I clench the memento I kept for so long
I try and think how it ever came to this
But my mind is growing darker each minute
Everything to me is now inconsequential
My final thought echoes in my mind forever
Was this the bullet of my killer?
Or was this the bullet of love?
