THE WINDS OF CHANGE

The winds of change encircled the earth,
Portending things to come.
Fire, war and pestilence,
Diseases of unknown origin.

Unbreathable air, tainted food,
Water reeking of man's sin.
Haze obscured midday sun,
Smoke stacks belching the end.

Environmental disaster looming,
Population, exploding, rending,
Depleting natural resources,
Then dying off like proverbial lemmings.

A dark, plastic and chemical world,
Nothing green left there to grow.
A choking, soot filled cocoon,
Enveloping earth's last death throe.
