Behold,
for I am the menacing night king,
dubious sovereign of black and shadow.
My cunning deception is blindsiding, and
bleak peril to many.
I cover and lurk empty of feelings, far beyond the
swollen, pale and used dead end allies.
Beyond the pasty diamond sparkle of this nervous
city, neon lights from cheap motels, and
magenta liquor bottles, I weave with breathless intent, the
folly of dreams deferred, quenching an infinite thirst for
solitude.
I have come to defeat sleep, not to praise it as
idle, witless minds do.
I am the menacing night king!
Dubious emperor of stalking abyss.
My unwavering, impartial kiss of death has no end.
I was before your world and vain its imaginations.
Before the morning of metallic, glass reflections of
sunrise,
and artificial bouquets of crazy saccharin daisies,
I beheld the hearts of men, when their desires were naive,
consuming moonbeams in a fuzzy stream of
Blue Lotus visions.
I am the aroma of dew, and burning opium flowers, on
quiet fires of my ancestors.
You are harmless to my concerns,
consequently, each will earn their way and keep.
Each shall show itself, when the right time comes,
long after my presence, here, before witness,
though another dawn draws nigh, elusive to my reign of
space and time;
I suffer, not, to its passing.
Behold,
I am the menacing night king,
dubious sovereign of black and shadow!
