In the forest
On the ground- tiny life everywhere
Creeping, crawling, slinking, slithing, burrowing
Nature’s rush hour has begun.
The sun likes an orange ball finally
Drops below the horizon
Invites the world into dusk.
From my beautiful cottage
Adding to the bounty
The exuberant vegetation sprouts
Immense alluvial plain-vast inland sea
Dry and scrawny land on the other side
Wildlife show on earth.
Stepping back to history
Cacophony of trilling, warbling, gargling, whistling
Cycle of living organism.
To look for animals
Their voices trail off- there is a silence
It seems to ring in my ear.
Tall tree-magnificent blue birds
With dashes of yellow
Around their beaks and eyes.
Scurrying through the treetops
Making wheels in the sky
Sparks from the clouds.
Strutting and vaguely groaning
Menacing terrible looks
Somewhere sharpening their claws
The night deepens
The sky becomes carbonated with bright stars
Undimmed by city glow.
From darkness comes a brass snarl
A screech of pain
The strong really do eat the weak
It is a journey through creations
I am willing to take others
In the dense forest
I smell the wild flowers
I love to sleep on the green grass
A time to die on nature’s lap.
