ASHES

Buried in ashes as my world crashes,
incinerated by hell fire on earth.
Tired of striving, just barely surviving,
in a world that knows no worth.
Bitterness creeps in, I cannot win,
in this titanic effort to live.
Peace taken away, bleak is my day,
I have no more left to give.
Work to exhaustion, but the cost is,
taking its toll on my existence.
Toil from daylight ‘til dark, all is stark,
meeting more and more resistance..
A future sublime, peace of mind,
just a little lull in the trouble.
A badly needed rest, would top the crest,
of a mountain of insidious rubble.
I long for serenity, deep propensity,
wrapped in bright sunny days.
A calming breeze my soul to seize
and blow the ashes away.
,
ASHES
