If I had the wings of an eagle
I would up and fly away.
Fly so far over the clouds
On a bright and sunny day.
I would fly all over this big, wide world.
Just land from here to there
Long enough to grasp the beauty
Of different places so far.
I would fly so free, just the wind and me,
Deep in the bright blue sky . . .
And search for the place where angels live
And there for a rest I would lie.
Then I would travel on my journey
Far over the land and sea,
Looking around for my destiny
That I know is awaiting me.
Oh, to have wings like an eagle
Just to fly into the air;
Fly away from all my troubles
That I have had to bear
