Amidst The Rubble

Amidst the rubble
She now does play
In bricks and mortar
Of yesterday
Remembering again
The sturdy strong wall
Laughing aloud
As she recalls its fall

There are pieces here
There are memories there
She walks among them
Without a care
Knowing this structure
Could not stand
Against the powers of
Love and her man

Ashes to ashes
Slowly crumbling to dust
Rebuilding her heart
With strength and trust
Picking up a piece
To hold in her hand
She finally has come
To understand....

Never build a foundation
With hurt and fear
For bonds are much stronger
In what we hold dear
Sifting through remnants
Of what used to be
She sighs to herself...
She is finally free...
