From this exact spot
300 years from now
in 2304
long after these
images of words
have been printed
and put in a safe place
perhaps an airtight capsule
buried in a thick plastic box
and well marked
left to be found
long past the point
when my bones are dust
and my soul has grown comfortable
with the eternity of peace
when no one alive even
remembers my era
and who I was
or what mattered to us all
perhaps some inquisitive soul
will uncover the marker
that designates the last
known position of my poetry
and with some laser spade
and robotic assistance
dig up the unmarred trunk
of thick plastic and open it
to find two thousand poems and
300 songs and a few stories
and hopefully he/she/it will be
literate and read enough
to realize that they have found
an artistically documented
collection of the late 20th
and early 21st centuries
that brain scans will offer
to the public through subconcious ads
the right synapses beamed into
the minds of the many curious
about such a primitive time
for a fee of massive porportion
and my words will live on
and move future souls to tears
laughter and love,
it may be just the silly notion
of a dreamer penning hope
but perhaps I'll leave a legacy
that the world denies me now
