 From my mind

LITTLE POLLY PUDDLEDOWN

Little Polly Puddledown had the most important job
In any Kingdom, in any village, City or town
The job royal cleaner of the magic bejewelled golden crown
A very important job indeed for Little Polly Puddledown

Little Polly every morning was up bright and early with the lark
Tip toeing for fear she would wake someone and cause the dogs to bark
Up early every morning before the cock did crow
To clean the golden crown up to the palace she would go

Now the king he was vein and arrogant a poodle of man
Blue blood ran through his veins and he stud proud and grand
With all his fine clothes, gold, jewels, style and royal grace
He even wore curlers in his beard and make up on his face

His majesty had a failing his temper he could not keep
From sir knights down to knaves when he shouted
They would come running even in their sleep
In one of his tantrums he would rant and scream and rave
For it was known for ladies to faint and old ones heart attacks he gave

Little Polly over slept one cold and wintry morn and to the castle she was late
When she looked up at the clock tower it was all ready half past eight
The sentary on the tower gates shouted hurry girl the king he just can't wait
His majesties had his breakfast he's waiting for his crown woe betide your fate

When young Polly was an apprentice a warning to be followed it was said
Never hurry the cleaning of the precious crown get up early out of your bed
Gently polish to the left then gently to the right never rub up all ways rub down
You must all ways abide by these rules whilst cleaning the magic golden crown

Poor Polly was in a state, poor Polly was feeling ill, poor Polly was in a tizzy
Little hands worked far to fast making mistakes made her feel faint and dizzy
She rubbed up instead of rubbing down with the cloth she did attack
Alas alack the jewels fell out the crown went from gold to grey then it turned black

Your majesty I am sorry the crowns magic I did break and for pardon I humbly beg
As Polly cried and grovelled upon the floor hanging onto the kings leg
Not one sound came from his lips but his face was like thunder a purple red
With a deafening roar he bellowed take her to the chopping block and lob of her head

The moral of this story the moral to this tale
Now take heed to my words for if you don't in life you will surely fail
I'll tell you one and all I'll tell you all this day
You see how you can loose your head by rubbing some one up the wrong way.
