From The Heart

A single rose

A single rose pays tribute,
For two lives snatched away,
A brutal crime which broke and shattered dreams.
A community now lays desperate,
But what can people say,
As in the air we still hear tiny screams.

A moment of reflection,
To wipe away the tears,
But still the pain burns and lingers on.
A second of rejection,
To relive all those fears,
As we ask how so much could go wrong.

A community drowned by sadness,
as silence fills the air,
But who can understand the reason why.
A fleeting glimpse of darkness,
While many stand and stare,
As others simply bend a knee and cry.

Two lives brutally taken,
A community torn apart,
But someone knows the secrets of that night.
A nations heart is broken,
But somehow they must start,
To try and build a future which is bright.
