A Cage To Hold My Dreams

Myself And Mandy Forrest

We traced the treacherous River Nile
cleared the trail in single file
we fried swans' eggs in groundnut oil,
                      myself and Mandy Forrest.

We flagged a rhino heading east
behind a flock of homing geese
pursued by angry tree police,
                      myself and Mandy Forrest.

We fought with tribesmen hand-to-hand
swam lakes beyond the sight of land
tapped springs beneath the desert sand,
                        myself and Mandy Forrest.

We captured bandits on the run
played blackjack with them in the sun,
bought ice-creams with the cash we won,
                        myself and Mandy Forrest.

We panned for gold near Stukeley Ridge
Fished salmon off Ruiki Bridge
Made love down by the water's edge,
                       myself and Mandy Forrest.
