I Wish I Was An Angel
I wish I was an angel
So I could soar across the sky
And watch in wonder as you sleep
And hum to you this lullaby
I would wrap my wings around you
Just to protect you as you rest
Placing softly a kiss upon your brow
To hear the sigh rise from your chest
And I would stay with you, my love
Chasing away any torments in the night
Loving you only the way I could
Until the moon concedes to morn's first light
Yet if I was an angel...
So many sweet treasures I would miss
I could never feel your heart that beats
Or know the softness in your kiss
My lullaby would be a memory
And I tell you that would be wrong
For the best way that I can love you
Is through this, my poetic song....
