It Was Supposed To Be Forever!We gave our love to each other, That was so very hard for me to do, You took that love then destroyed it, Yes, not me, but you! We promised our lives together, And said we were forever more, Then one day, just like that, You left, walked out through the door. You took my heart when you left, All my dreams were shattered, You didn't seem to care any more! It was as if I no longer mattered! You made such promises to me, Gave me your undying love and devotion, So you said to me…often, Now you've gone, and I have no notion! You took my heart and shattered it, When you threw me to one side, Tossed away, just like that, I couldn't run, I couldn't hide! I loved and lost, yes, I did, And that's oh, so very true, My heart in bits and pieces, All because of you! I nursed my broken heart, Thought I would never mend, But then one day, the sun came out, And peace became my friend. And now I love once more, When I thought I never would, But I opened my heart without knowing, Just as of course, we should! So now love has settled once again, A love so gentle, kind and true, For I have the love of a special man, And that man is no longer you! Broken dreams, shattered promises, They all tell a tale so true, But just like that, the heart will mend, For yes, I got over losing you! So no matter the hurt we suffer, And no matter the pain we bear, Always, always, always…! There is another love who will care! My life was shattered into pieces, This jigsaw of a heart was broken in two, Then just like that, the sun came out… And suddenly there was a love so true. It does get better and we do heal, And one day you will see that too, But until then, be strong of heart, And love will happen once again for you! …It was supposed to be forever… …But what is forever… …Will we ever know… Maybe Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
