To Say Goodbye
Oh my, but to say goodbye
leaves a ache deep within my soul.
My heart fell when I heard you had passed,
your earnest smile still fresh on my mind.
Memories flood back as though it were but yesterday
that you rambled on about airplanes and "the good old days".
You truly loved your life
but you missed her so, your dear departed wife.
So back into her arms you go,
though tears fall, surely you must know
you were loved, you will be missed and without a doubt,
your footprint will remain within the hearts
of the lives you so gently stepped into.
