Words of Life, Love and Praise

For The Colonel~

How my heart breaks to see you like this
Where such a strong, vital man once stood,
Your fastidious manner now a thing of the past
As you slip further from your reality.
Oh, the things our mind can do to us…
Till not a thing we knew shall remain,
Where are you now as I watch you there-
Staring off into space?
Once in a while those baby blues still flash
To reveal that sharp wit I loved so…
Your smile gleams as you look into my eyes-
When for a moment, you recall your sweet girl.
Yes, my tears will continue to fall
As I watch you quickly fade away-
For only remnants now remain
Of the amazing man I knew you to be.
