Your past is like a darkened shade
that lingers after the path you made
even though the Son shines through
it seems like it will never fade.
But once God's forgiven what we've done
we can enjoy the rays of His son
cause He paid every cost of life's woes
for the battle He has already won.
With another beginning we're made as new
no longer does He care about the past pursued
so shadows of life's past doesn't have to
enter in the things that we do.
You see, God loves us for today
in the things we live and say
we just have to keep His joy
from going to far a stray
