Fourth of July: \ / /
the beach was thick with the smoke, \ / /
of ordinances going off with a bang, ------> >.< <-----
and ordinances being broken. / / \ \ /
A black Velvet sky painted with, /^\
a miasma of freedom bursting at the screams. \ /
Of course, every single blast was manufactured, / \
in China, but we still used them to celebrate,
our independence from foriegn profiteering,
"ALL THE ROCKETS RED GLARE,
THE BOMBS BURSTING IN AIR,
GAVE PROOF THROUGHT THROUGHT,
EVEN OUR FLAGS ARE MADE THERE!"
Gunpowder burst brought ooooH'S, and Ahhhh's here,
and crys of pain, and death in Iraq.
Seems every decade has a war to blow things up over!
But children leapt, and cartwheeled,
with much delight under tropical,
falling stars that night,
and parents acted just like kids again,
playing with matches and punk sticks,
and making a racket louder then,
they would ever allow thier kids to make.
Gardens of fireflowers, by the thousands,
bloomed in the topsoil of the heavens,
shedding petals of light,
until the silence of July 5th settled,
over us all, like the debris washed up,
across the beach, come morn....come mourn!
