Life's Beauty
The dead, they miss all this,
The living pass them by,
The lazy drift of reddened cloud
In autumns evening sky.
The freshness of a shower,
In summer's heady heights
A coolness played upon the face
Which sets the heart to rights.
The singing of a skylark,
Unseen, but sounds to please,
Contents the mind and eases hurt
When fetched on heady breeze.
The smiling of an infant,
Finding out about his world,
An innocent in the game of life,
The rules, as yet, unfurled.
All these - the beauties of the world,
We only learn to love,
When lying far beneath the earth,
Whilst they lie up above.
