Poem for Another

Shall I walk with you
In summers golden heat ?
Feel the breath of you
Each and every time we meet ?
Shall I smile with you,
Knowing this could be so sweet ?
For only I can walk with you,
 . . . . and know.

Can I live with this
In the shadow of your smile ?
Know the depth of bliss
Though it's only for the while ?
Hold in truth to you,
Though the truth of you is his ?
Only I can live,
 . . . . and know.

But the song that plays,
In the corner of your smile.
And the holding of your gaze,
In the eyes that do beguile,
And the outstretched hand,
That holds in mine,
 . . . . Is mine,
 . . . . . . . . I know.
